Guardianship
Protecting Your Loved Ones
While our primary focus is family law, we understand that there are a variety of other legal issues that often accompany these types of matters. At the Law Office of Alexandra M. Geczi, PLLC, we offer basic services in these other areas as well. Contact our office today to discuss your options.
Making the decision to arrange for guardianship of your loved one can be difficult. Our firm understands the need for compassionate and knowledgeable representation in these delicate family matters, and we offer services in the following areas:
Special Needs Guardianship: If your child has developmental disabilities and has turned 18 or is about to, we can help establish you as legal guardian over their personal and financial affairs. This includes setting up a special needs trust to preserve assets without disqualifying your adult disabled child for Medicare and Social Security benefits.
Elder Guardianships: It may be time for your elderly parent to enter an assisted living or nursing home facility because of the limitations of age or dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. If your parent can no longer make financial decisions or manage their own care, we can help establish guardianship to protect them and their assets.
Successor Guardians and Transfer of Guardianship: In the event that an existing guardian dies or resigns, we can assist in a smooth transition for a new guardian to take over the role.
Receipt and Acceptance of Foreign Guardianships – If you have already established a guardianship in another another court or state, we can assist you in transferring that guardianship to the proper county or court.
We offer flat fees for many guardianship services (which vary by county) or competitive hourly fees for dispute resolution.
