Intial Consultation
What To Expect
Any person suffering from divorce or family law issues needs a qualified and experienced family law attorney to fight for them. It is our goal here at Alexandra Geczi, PLLC to ensure that each client will lead a happier and healthier life once their family law issue has been resolved. We are excited that you have chosen us to help you!
Why Do I Need A Case Evaluation
Before we begin, we will have to do a quick case evaluation. An initial consultation takes case evaluation a step further. If the basic criteria for a match is there, then we will invite you to an initial consultation.
When you contact our office, our intake specialist will communicate with you briefly regarding some basic information to determine whether or not we are a good fit for you. This includes checking for conflicts of interest. Because every case is unique, not every case will be taken in for consideration. We strive for full transparency before accepting your case; we want to ensure we are the best match for you before we engage in the complexities of legal services.
For your initial consultation, fill out the form above, and someone will be in touch with you shortly. Once we’ve evaluated your situation and determined that a consultation is in order, our staff will coordinate scheduling and other administrative matters with you.
What Can I Expect At My Consultation?
Be prepared to discuss your current situation, including details such as:
- Why your situation is a problem
- What steps you’ve taken to address the problem
- What you’d like the situation to be once it is resolved
- What it would mean to you if we could help you
You will be speaking with our Director of Operations, Brandy Fine for a 30 minute phone call. During this time, she will gather more detailed information and ask you questions regarding your particular situation.

An initial consultation will help you better understand your options, including pricing. Our goal is to help you feel comfortable with and empowered throughout the process.
The focus of the consultation will be about where you are and where you want to be. We will discuss aspects of your current situation and how your decisions will affect you and your family members.
We do not discuss legal advice at the consultation stage. After your consultation you may decide to hire the firm and you will move into your next meeting with the attorneys that we call a Strategy and Planning session.
If you’re looking for general guidance on child support, the divorce process, visitation schedules, alimony, and more, then our blog and website have some great information and resources for you.
Why We Charge For A Consultation
We generally charge for a consultation for three reasons, back by direct experience. First, charging prevents people from “shopping around” to create a conflict of interest. Because our niche is so focused, we are careful about who we consult with.
Second, paying for a consultation demonstrates its value. The adage “you get what you pay for” rings true.
Third, charging for the consultation screens out people who cannot afford our services or choose not to make the financial commitment. Because we have a client-centered practice with a smaller caseload, we must be selective about the clients we can help.
What Is A Strategy Session?
An initial strategy session delves deep. You meet with an attorney and/or paralegal to discuss legal strategy and build out your divorce roadmap. You will have homework, which includes assembling specific documents, working on checklists, and discussing your legal options in detail. You will discuss the logistics of how things will work and what actions you must take to protect yourself, your children, and your assets prior to filing, as well as long-term goals for the legal team to focus on.
Scheduling a strategy session means you’re ready for a divorce, but you want to work out the details and timing of things before filing. To work with your legal team in a strategy session, you must retain the firm for representation in your matter.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
For a case evaluation or initial consultation, you don’t need to bring anything with you. However, you may do so if you like. If you have been served with papers, or there are prior orders in your case, bring those.
For a strategy session, we will provide you with a list of documents we hope to see, which you may or may not have access to. It may be helpful to bring recent tax returns, bank statements, and pay stubs. If you feel that there are other documents we should look at, bring those as well. Once we’ve had a chance to review the important documents in your case, we can formulate an action plan for you.
ALREADY HAVE AN APPOINTMENT?
Once you’ve scheduled an appointment, be sure to complete our initial intake form prior to your first meeting with our team and make payment as needed.
We look forward to meeting you!
