A professional colleague of ours recently contacted us looking for legal advice for a friend who was going through a divorce. We get calls like this every month. Below is a summary of our conversation.

“My friend reached out to me last night about a divorce. I don’t know the first thing about divorce, but I want to help her. Her husband earns a good living and they live in an affluent neighborhood. Her husband got a bulldog divorce attorney, and my friend has decided to represent herself because she doesn’t have access to money for a lawyer. She’s terrified. She has been a stay-at-home mom and she is afraid she’ll lose custody of the kids because she doesn’t have a job or a place to live. The husband and his attorney are making threats. I’m concerned about her and want to be sure she’s taken care of. I thought you would be able to help her?”

Yes! We help women like your friend every day and we would love to speak with her in order to provide knowledgeable legal advice based on her specific situation. Have her contact our office immediately so that we can help her get her access to money and put some things in place to protect the kids. It’s especially important for stay-at-home moms to take steps quickly to ensure they get their fair share of the assets and put rules in place for custody and child support.

We have a great guide for stay-at-home moms called “I Am SAHM, SAHM I Am,” and I’ll send it to you so that you can share it with her. In the meantime, let her know that she has legal rights, is entitled to her fair share of the property, and she can take action right now to protect herself and the kids. I will keep an eye open for her call, and we’ll take good care of her.

Thank you for thinking of us, and let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.

We want your friend to succeed as much as you do.
